How to install an OBD2 GPS tracker

No tools, no wiring, no installer. The OBD2 port sits under the dashboard near the driver's seat, usually just above the pedals — every car built after 1996 has one.

Plug in the tracker

Find the OBD2 port under the dash, push the tracker in until it clicks. The car powers it, so there is no battery to charge and nothing to remember.

What you see

Discover where your drivers are, 24/7

Watch the fleet move in real time from a computer, tablet or phone, and scroll back through where each vehicle has been — up to a year of history.

Speed alerts tell you about dangerous driving while you can still do something about it. Geofences flag a vehicle leaving a yard or arriving at a site that isn't on the schedule. Tamper alerts tell you the moment a device is unplugged.

My husband bought four of these GPS trackers for our water restoration business vehicles. I must say, setting them up was a breeze. They even work in areas around Vancouver Island, where the cell service can be a bit hit and miss. We're so pleased with how well they’ve been working

We were worried my Nana was getting confused when driving so we use this tracker to make sure she still good to drive and not getting lost. Easy to use. I also like how my sister and parents can all see where she’s at whenever we want — even though we live in different cities

Easy to use - just plug it in to OBD port. I like how fast the tracker updates compared to previous truck GPS trackers we used. Support team was very helpful as well showing us how to use speed alerts - just wish it had starter disable feature - but I guess they only come with hardwired trackers. Still worth the $

FAQs

Questions people ask before buying

How does an OBD2 GPS tracker work?

It plugs into the OBDII port under your dashboard and draws power from the vehicle. From there it monitors location, speed and driving data in real time and sends it to our secure servers, which you reach through the mobile app or the website.

What are the pros and cons of an OBD vehicle tracker?

Pros: easy install with no tools, real-time tracking with instant updates, geofencing, speed alerts and engine diagnostics, powered by the vehicle so there are no batteries, and it's ideal for keeping an eye on teen or elderly drivers.

Cons: the battery can drain if a vehicle sits unused for a long time, it is easy to unplug (though you'll get a tamper alert), it lacks some hardwired-only features such as starter disable, and the port may be occupied or missing on older vehicles.

Where is the OBD port in my car?

Under the dashboard near the driver's seat, usually just above the pedals, sometimes behind a small panel. Your vehicle manual shows the exact spot. Every car built after 1996 has one.

Do all GPS trackers require a monthly fee?

Not all, but most real-time trackers do. This one includes a full year of service with unlimited updates every 3 seconds in the purchase price. After the first year, if you want to keep the service running, plans start at $8.95 a month.

What is the warranty and support?

A lifetime warranty on the device, and free technical support from USA-based agents. Call 855-922-8100, seven days a week, 9am to 8pm PT.
