What to do when a mower goes missing
The first hour decides most equipment recoveries. Have the steps ready before you need them.
Under the deck, inside the engine housing, or against a frame rail. Steel surfaces are everywhere on a mower, so a magnetic unit needs no bracket.
Set a boundary around your storage yard and around each regular job site. Anything crossing it outside working hours fires an alert straight to your phone.
Equipment moves fast once loaded. Open the app the moment an alert lands. Confirm a crew member did not move the machine before assuming the worst.
Report the theft immediately with a current position, the make, the model and the serial number. A live location is what turns a report into a dispatch.
Never go to the location yourself. Equipment theft is often organized. Walking into a chop yard alone turns a property loss into something much worse.
Export the route log and hand it to your insurer with the police report. Documented movement is worth far more than a written recollection weeks later.
Record every serial number in the same place as your tracker account. Police cannot enter a machine into a database without one. A recovered mower with no serial on file often cannot be returned. Photograph the plate on each unit and store it with the insurance paperwork.

For most crews, yes. A single zero-turn costs more than a decade of tracking on any plan here. Stolen equipment is also recovered far less often than a vehicle.

Can a GPS tracker actually recover stolen equipment?
A tracker does not recover anything on its own. Police do, and what they need is a current location rather than a description.
That is the whole value. Without a tracker you report a make and model. With one you report an address, which is the difference between a filed report and a dispatch.
